Dr. Jagdeep S. Walia
MBBS, FRCPC, FCCMG
Dr. Walia received his MBBS in medicine at Guru Nanak Dev University School of Medicine, in Amritsar, India. Following postdoctoral research in genetics at the University of Toronto, he completed residency in Medical Genetics at the University of Manitoba. He joined Queen’s University as an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Pediatrics in 2012, and was promoted to Head of Medical Genetics at the Kingston Health Science Centre in 2015. In addition to working in the clinic and running the research lab he is active in knowledge translation and education. He has organized Genetics Patient and Family Day events to facilitate learning and support opportunities for individuals and families with genetic conditions. He is also a member of the Ontario Genetics Secretariat Committee, focused on developing a provincial strategy for genetics services and practice in Ontario.
